Hi there,

I've been biking to work for about a year and I love it. I'd really like to get a nice looking leather briefcase that clips on to my bike. I've found briefcase panniers but they are usually made of nylon and don't look very attractive. I think the sort of thing I"m looking for is much more common in Europe. Do you know of any companies that make leather briefcases that can easily attach to a bike rack?

I'm sorry I didn't see your post sooner. It was interesting that you asked, because I just found these sites yesterday, and was thinking how lovely their bike accessories were. I'm not sure if it's what you're after -- but if I had the money, I would be, lol.

Good luck in your search. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/tongue.gif

http://www.rivbike.com/products/list/bags_and_racks?a=1&page=all has some lovely bike bags, non-black nylon type.

The bag below was found at http://www.mydutchbike.com/accessories/ in San Francisco. They don't appear to have an online catalog, but you can check further and call them.

I think I'd find that case a little irritating. You need to remember the **** you'll pick up from wet roads. A nice shiny briefcase would soon look tatty with road splashes on it. why not get a pannier and put a briefcase into it?

The simplest way to do this would be to get a cargo cycle and stash your briefcase in one of those panniers. A RANS Hammertruck, a Madsen or a Yuba Mundo and away you go.... Check out www.cargobikecult.com for dozens of options.

I'd like to see someone come up with a usable garment bag that could attach to a rear rack. It seems like it would be a not too difficult concept to make happen.

I don't know of briefcase panniers but have you ever considered a bicycle trailer? The newest trailer on the market, the Maya Cycle bicycle trailer is designed for exactly this, for carrying cargo behind your bike easily, especially for urban and city cyclists. Check it out at www.mayacycle.com. The trailer has a kick-stand that holds the trailer and bike upright and the trailer even converts into a wheelbarrow so you can carry heavy cargo further than your bike will. Comes with the bag, 2 elastic straps and a flag: awesome value!! Check it out and let me know what you think of it!
