I'm 4 weeks into a broken ankle and I 've noticed that I'm loosing mass in the calf of that leg.

How is this going to affect my cycling when I get back on the bike?

What are the specific exercises I should do when I can start working out the leg again?

Thanks!

I know exactly what you are going through. Destroyed my ankle last nov in an atv race. (slipped off the peg and ran it over at 40mph.) Due to my pins and plates and my "aircast" i was able to begin physio after 4weeks. Muscle atrophy is normal, and it will continue to shrink (don't be discouraged). Start by doing simple stretches and hold it. Remember to work only 1 direction per day.
IE: day one: point your toes forward, and hold for 10, rest, 3 sets.
day 2: point toes towards you, forcing your heal out, hold for 10, rest, 3 sets.

Once the DR gives you the ok to walk again, calf raises ,and easy biking will get those muscles back to normal in about 3 weeks.
