I need a new tire ,a Brompton Kevlar"green". I called a Brompton agent in
Dorset but they said that they could not send it by post as it would get
damaged if folded! ...now this will mean that I have to do a 20 ml trip
there and back for a tyre that will cost £18.0 does anyone know of a
Brompton agent in the Poole /Bournemouth area,I have seen quiet a lot of
bromptoms about. thank you in advance ...cas

Sounds like that could be bollocks to me... I'd give Darth Ben at
Kinetics a call, he might even still be doing free postage.

Figure of 8 is a no-no. You can fold a tyre in threes, but not if they
are so small as for a Brompton. But why can't they put the tyre in a box?

I used to live in Parkstone Poole. I yhink BJs on Blandford Road, over the
Poole bridge in Hamworthy should help. If not Spa Cyles on the internet or
by telephone will mail no problem, as will Avon Valley Cyclery in Bath.

Indeed. Royal Mail haven't brought in size related postage yet. Of
course my postie mates are likely to bend it about a bit but I think
the BA in Dorset is a bit lacking in the thinking department. Just cut
a piece of old corrugated cardboard box to fold around it like a book
as SJSC did with a couple of Salomon mudguard stays I ordered the
other day.

They have for some services. I've recently mailed two 17" tyres to
Germany and only just got the parcel within the H+W+D limit. The tyres
arrived fine, so I wouldn't worry about damage in the mail.

Strictly speaking that's not size related postage (better known as size
based pricing or, as preferred by Royal Mail, Pricing in Proportion), it's
just a limit on the maximum size they'll handle.

Pricing in Proportion proper starts on August 21st.

You can get Schwalbe Marathons in the same size as standard Brompton tyres.
