Welcome to my least favourite commuting month. Cold I can cope with.
A 35 km/h headwind I can't.

I should add, sorry, that we've been having maxima below 25degC, no
wonder I'm so cold, it's only 24degC right now!

it's a chilla tdy.
But I like rain less.
Aug-> Oct is my least fav time of yr to ride in Melb. Not so much the cold, but the intermittent, inclement weather & how the wind picks up.
We can all plan for a day of rain, but them short term blitzing showers & wind gusts when you're far from home are not nice.

Make a habit of looking at the radar before going home/work.

For best effect, have a job with flexible working hours. Or become a
student.

It's not that bad riding through the rain. Although it's not much fun getting to work soaking wet. After living in Melbourne for a while, the rain doesn't really bother me anymore, and after Around the Bay 2003, I can ride through just about anything.

my big mare is standing in 4 inches of snow thinking whattha????? It took her a while to figure out that it was ok to walk through (think moon steps - funny as).

the geldings are standing there thinking yeah great - where's the food gone?
:D

School buses are not running as they cannot see the road - it looks the same as the road verge and the paddocks. It's all very disney-pretty but lots of tree branches coming down under the weight, plus very slippery roads.

Castrated horses are given different names to non castrated horses?

Discrimination!

Cool! Now I just have to get up to wherever the hell it is that you
are.

Damn you Peter S, picking a weekend when there was hardly any snow :)
(although if it did snow, my hands would have been even colder on the
downhill)

Getting to work I can handle, nice warm shower and clean dry clothes.

Leaving work when bike gear hasn't dried out >bleh< and then there's
cleaning the rims, brakes and chain on returning home. Pain in the ass.

as discriminatory as common, self-generated terminology used to describe persons of alternate sexuality. Besides, when you lose your studliness.........

I am less than 600m (about 400 I think?????) so not so far up. But obviously far enough up today. Base of the Strzlecki's. I heard that it was minus one at 4 pm. Now that's COOL!!!!!!

Agree with both of those. It was a lovely day for a ride.
Sun was shining both ways. Tail wind on the way home.
What more could you want?
