Some land managers seem to confuse "development" with "improvement".

We had a short section of single track through some scrub under willows along a river bank near here
that was 'improved'. Our little local newsletter congratulated the guys for opening the track up
again after it had become 'overgrown'. I don't know what Wally improved it, but he's 'cut' a new
trail alright. What he's really done is cut a trench that's more or less 3' wide and 4" deep along
the trail. That'd be fine if he was going to fill it with gravel and crown it up but I don't think
that'll ever happen. I hate to think what'll happen when the wet winter weather hits. Can you say
"new stream"? Small town, someone must have thought it'd be a good idea to keep someone on the
maintenance crew busy. No idea.
