Yes any changer which spans your chainrings will work
with Ergos.

Agree, I use a C-Rec ft der with my Record 9 Ergo levers,
Chorus 9 rear der, Shimano 9 cassette/rear hub and shimano 9
chain (with Sram powerlink), all works well!

No. All cable-operated front derailers work with Ergo
shifters.
