Calculate RPMs (without a cyclocomputer)...

What is the best way - easiest way to calculate RPMs?
Count how many times your right ( or left ) pedal hits the bottom of the stroke in 10 seconds and then multiply by 6

Try counting the number of times either leg does a downward pedal stroke in 15 seconds, then multiply by 4. You could count for any part of a minute of course. If you don't like to multiply in your head, you could count leg strokes for a whole minute. Or, 6 second count x 10 is quick and easy (eg, 8 pedal strokes of your right leg in 6 seconds = 80 rpm cadence), but not as precise as a longer period count.

If you want, if you can, you can do it with the music ! :)

If you charge, on your mp3 player, predefined bpm (beats per minute) music tracks, you can create a kind of musical tour with different bpm--->rpm and duration track.
When you will be outdoor on ÿour way, you will try to keep music beats.
You can also create a profile...endurance, intervals etc..
Warning: choose music with appropriate range of bpm !!! Is impossible to keep on hill 120 rpm.

This coming from indoor cycling training..., but sometimes can be done also outdoor ! (remember: on safe way, ...so far traffic and dangerous zone).

Sometime can be helpful...sometimes can be dangerous (outdoor)!

Ciao Matteo :)
p.s: If you have a good feeling, you will be ready for winter indoor cycling class.
