Hi,

how would the new Campa UT cranks work on an old (1996) steel Pinarello frame? Would the Q factor be different from what I have today (Campa Athena 111mm BB)? I am currently using a 50/39 combination. Is that combination available in the regular double or the compact version?

Regards,

Roland

the cranks should work fine, because the bottom bracket shells on frames haven't changed in many, many years. It will most likely be an Italian shell; 70mm wide.

it says in the Campag instructions that the q-factor is a "nominal 145.5mm".

I'd say that would be slightly wider than your old Athenas with you narrowish spindle. The width of tapered cranks varies depending on how far, and how many times they've been rammed onto an axle
