If you like Campagnolo components Centaur is a very good value. I happen to like the spoke support angle provided by Shimano rear hubs Vs. Campagnolo rear hubs. However, Campagnolo Centaur is comparable in quality to Ultegra and some prefer the Campagnolo shift/brake levers over anything Shimano has to offer. -
Campy Centaur 10sp vs Shimano Ultegra 9sp, go Campy. However, with new 10sp Ultegra out now. I would go with Ultegra, it has D-A features and almost the same quality materials but at 2/3 the price. As a non-pro, the small advantage in weight of D-A is irrelevant but the savings.....Of course, the bottom line is that it's a personal choice in terms of shift lever design, ergonomics, etc. Ultegra 10sp might also be slightly more expensive than Centaur these days too I believe.
Cheers,

They're close enough in price and performance that you won't be let down either way. It's mostly a matter of personal preference and which one is easier to get replacement parts for in your area.
