Can anyone tell me whether there would be any problems using a "10-spd Campag Record" chainset with
an 8-speed freewheel ?

My concern would be that the wider chain used with an 8-speed freewheel might not work well with the
narrow chainwheels of the front chainset.

Thanks in advance.

Use it. There is no problem.

Nope, none, the 8s chain doesn't care. We have put many '10s' chainsets onto 7 and 8s sytems.
