campag shimano?

iron-<< i was planning on buying a set of
SHIMANO WH-R540 wheels, but i want to run a campag groupset, i wondered
if i can fit the wheels with a campag freewheel and then cassette etc,
or wether i could run a shimano cassette with a campag mech, >><BR><BR>

Use the shimano wheels, use a shimano 9 or 10s cogset, matching chain and then
use the Campagnolo ERGO, rear der...it'sll work just fine, we do this all the
time.

You can also use an American classic cogset on the shimano wheels.

Have you looked at the ShiftMate
(http://www.jtekengineering.com/shiftmate.htm)?

It appears to be a "travel agent" type of setup for mapping Campagnolo to
Shimano in various combinations.

Sure but why sully up great ERGOs with crappy shimano rear ders??

Campagnolo makes so many rear ders(18 or so), are not expensive, are compatible
with everything from a 11-21 thru 11-34. why use shimano???

A new rear der like Mirage is about the same price as one of those 'gizmos'.
