I have a design question concerning the new Campy Record carbon cranks, and I apologize in advance
for my potential lack of proper terminology.

On the carbon cranks the orientation of the hole where the bottom bracket connects to the crankarm
one of the corners of the square points down the arm of the crank. On the forged cranks the flat
side of the square points down the crankarm, i.e. the "peg hole" of the crankarms are turned 90
degrees from one another. I was just curious as to why. Is it a matter of stresses that are put on
one material compared to the other or what? I understand that in use there would be no percieved or
felt difference just curious about the choice from a design standpoint.

Thanks in advance.
