Campy ergo lever body

A friend of mine crashed and ruined his campy record carbon ergo
lever. The body is cracked, but the rest of the parts are still
good. Is it possible to get the ergo lever body alone? Does the
body have to be a record body or can it be from a lower end model? If
the parts are sold by themselves, anyone know of a source? TIA.

The bodies are interchangeable. Record through Mirage. I think there
are more expensive ones on the Record and maybe Chorus levels. But
any will work fine. Two years ago I crashed and broke the body on my
Centaur levers. $25 part from Branford Bike. Not sure if Branford is
still operating or not. Vecchios or Yellow Jersey will have the
bodies in stock I expect. Or your local bike shop can order the body
from the QBP catalog. May also need the spring that pulls the small
shift lever back under the brake lever because it could have been lost
in the crash. I discovered this part was missing after assembling
everything. While its apart you may want to replace the G springs
too.

Do a Google search for the time period of May 2005 and my name as
author and Ergo in the search. Should pull up the old thread. And
probably many other threads on this subject.

Ochsner USA is the Campagnolo small parts distributor. They either
have the lever or can get it, although campy small parts imho are
overpriced today.

IMHO back in the 70's you could build a campy component from scratch
from small parts. Today not only is it not possible (each component
has a 'main part' that is not sold), but all the small parts put
together sell for an outrageous ~5x of the original component price.

Branford bike has been re-opened in Seattle and could probably get you
a lever at retail prices.

In terms of price the best choice would be ebay, as someone else might
have a toasted lever that they are selling for parts.

$30 for Centaur/Veloce lever body or $50 for Record/Chorus lever
body. Not free. But this plus shipping and have the parts arrive in
3 days seems OK. An hour or so of not hard labor and your shifter is
working again. Lot easier than monkeying with eBay. I suspect
Vecchios and Yellow Jersey also sell the parts for a similar price.
Or order them from your local bike shop through QBP.
