Do Campy hubs have the support barrings close to the drop out points like the Shimano hubs like this one http://sheldonbrown.com/gloss_e-f.html#freehub ? I ask this because I bend back axles and thus far this is the only style of hub that did not do that. I am about 260 pounds.

Edit:

I am looking at a mid 80's bike with campy parts.

Unfortunately, no.

AFAIK (based on my Campy hubs), the bearings on the Campy hubs are on the non-drive side in the usual place AND near the middle of the axle on the drive side ... the freehub DOES have bearings, of course, but they don't carry the weight.

FWIW, the axle on the older (current Mirage, possibly Veloce) hubs (with the larger BELL) are steel ... very robust; but, very heavy.

There ARE a few ways by which you can run Shimano hubs with Campy drivetrains ...
