I got 105 brakes calbiers and 23mm tyres, and there not much space between the two. Living in Australia I haven't see any road bikes with any on (weather in Australia is generally fine). But it does rain sometimes and I want to keep my feet dry. :)

SKS do some clip on mud guards I think they are called raceblades. I have a set they work well and are easy to strap on or use with cable ties for a more permanent fit. They dont go through the fork crown so there is no probs with fitting under any type of brake.
