I can't speak for the Cannondale, but I just got the 2006 Trek 1500 58cm for the same price.....and I love it. I'm new to cycling so I dont' really know how to explain it to you, but I tried out a Giant and the Trek and went with the Trek. I had to take it and get the cables tightened shortly after I bought it, but they say all bikes need that. After that, it's been awesome!
Given identical value and quality, There are just too many Trek around. Kinda boring.

60cm is a big frame get the trek there well known for having short head tubes, also they dont have hidden headsets which makes the frame look smaller than it actualy is.Trust me the trek will be more pleasing on the eye.hope this helps
