Cannondale Scalpel 29er 3

The Cannondale Scalpel 29er 3 is currently on sale at a vastly reduced price. I'm looking to purchase a new mountain bike and I thought I would solicit some opinions here first. Thanks in advance.

great one but overkill if you don't use it on hardcore mountain trails,

It is more bike than I was looking to purchase, but, when you can get a $3600 bike for $2300, it is very tempting.
