I recently moved to Cambridge UK from Montreal Canada and have been wading through all the new (to me) brands and dealers in an attempt to find a bike that will serve as a reliable commuter in this bike friendly city and yet also be fun to ride on weekend treks out of town. I'm not a serious bikeperson-yet- but I figure I might as well start somewhere. As I look around town for a hybrid in the 2-400£ range, I've tried the Specialized Vienna 2 (a little to fiddly and upright for me), and Sirrus (too road bikey for country paths), Dawes Discovery 201 - seems like what I want but will it last? Is Dawes any good?) and the current leader: Giant CRS 3.0 (at full retail 325£ but I'll have to add mudgards and rack). Also my feeling is that I should go for a local dealer, but nothing is on sale here at the moment and Online prices are pretty tempting.
Any thoughts?
