I think you misunderstood his statement. He is eating a 500 - 1000
calorie deficit after taking exercise into account, not 500 - 1000
calories total. This is perfectly reasonable for a loss of 1 to 2 lbs
per week.

I think you misunderstood his statement. He is eating a 500 - 1000
calorie deficit after taking exercise into account, not 500 - 1000
calories total. This is perfectly reasonable for a loss of 1 to 2 lbs
per week.
