Is a carbon fork steerer strong enough to withstand the pressure of the star nut or is there an
aluminum sleeve inside. I dont know how long full carbon forks have been around, it just seems
strange to apply pressure to carbon fibre. Thanks

most of the forks come with an internal expanding wedge bolt. no star nuts used in the
    carbon steerer.

    No it is not-

<< or is there an aluminum sleeve inside.

Some do but carbon steerers should use an expanding plug, that comes with new carbon steerer forks.
