apart from price and weight saving, are there other reasons to continue using alloy crank arms?
or in other words, if money is of little matter, are there good reasons to buy carbon cranks ( not considering the win in weight)?

Durability. If you put a serious scratch in carbon, to the point where the actual fiber mesh is damaged, the strength is greatly reduced and can result in critical failure. Not so with alloy, you just have a big fat ugly deep scratch. That being said, I have the FSA team carbons, being my first road bike, I have little point of reference performance wise.

Aesthetics, if you want your bike to look good, this will give it a big plus. Check out the campagnlolo carbon cranks.
