Actually cellulose fibre. The bamboo bike is nicer, and it works.

The designer decided to use recycled material as a gimmick rather than
because it's appropriate. As for the comment "so cheap it's not worth
stealing", lots of bikes get nicked for a joyride or to get home from
the pub, not because of their value.

Would it actually be any cheaper than a gaspipe bso? It looks like a
vaguely-bsoso to me.

The video I saw yesterday did not have anyone riding it -can it be
ridden or is it a display only model?
