I used to cycle a lot when I was younger and have started to get back into it again. I currently regularly attend 2 sporting events each week. They are both located in the same location and are about 5 miles away. I currently make the journey by car but hoping to change this to cycle instead. This should equate to 4 x 30 min of cycling a week. Most of the journey will be on dedicated cycle paths while the rest will be road. I am keen on getting a hybrid bike type.
My budget (£200 UK sterling) will allow me to buy a brand new bike near the bottom of the range. However, I'd much prefer to buy a more decent bike 2nd hand. I've seen many bikes on eBay within my budget but how can I tell what roughly what the bikes were worth when new?
I would love to spend my £200 on getting a bike that was originally worth £800 when new but I don't want to get some rubbish bike that was only worth £150 when new.
What are some of the tell tale signs of a high class bike?
TIA
