Cat Eye Mity 8 or Enduro 8 computer?

They're the same computer, but the mount kit with the Enduro has
thicker, heavier wire.

The Mity 8 is my favorite cyclecomputer, I've got them on several of my
bikes.

I don't like the fat wire of the Enduro kit, it's too stiff and awkward.
Thicker wire has no advantage if you secure the wire properly.

Where can you get the skinny plastic ties? I got a bag of thicker ones
at CompUSA. These are for tieing down computer wiring, but they work.
They are a little too thick, but have fit everything so far.

I was moving my computers around between bikes until I got settled with
what I ride.

I always instinctively choose the Enduro version. From my ham radio
days thick RG-8 coax was better than skinny RG-58 so I guess I have
that prejudice. OTOH, I remember buying some SCSI cables that were as
thick
as a garden hose thinking they must be super high quality and they
turned out to be **** so you can't always judge a cable by its
thickness.

Even if you do secure the cable properly it is exposed so it could be
banged so I figure a thicker cable is more likely to survive such
inadvertant abuse.

I have the Enduro and Mity computers on all my bikes. Same computer
and bracket that fits on the handlebar. All my bikes have the Enduro
mouting hardware. The thick wire is much easier and cleaner to mount
than the skinny Mity wire. The Enduro comes with a coiled plastic
mounting thing that secures the thick wire to the front brake cable.
Very simple, easy, and clean looking. No goofy winding the skinny wire
around the brake cable. That looks shoddy. As if the computer company
and the bike shop were trying to use the cheapest wire possible on your
nice bike. I use cellophane tape, glossy, to tape the thick wire to
the fork blade. On the back inside edge so you cannot see it.
Everything just disappers. About the only problem with the Enduro
mounting hardware now is they do not use the clamp on band anymore.
They use a stick on, zip-tie, mounting method. I suppose because this
is easier to mount on a fat shock fork and they think the Enduro will
only be used on fat shocks and not road forks. I am guessing the Mity
uses the band clamp mounting method like they used to use on the Enduro
and Mity both.

Nope, Current Mity 8s use the same ziptie mounting system. Earlier
versions of both models used the screw-on mounts.

I prefer the newer ziptie mount system, personally. Easier to mount,
fits well on many different fork designs. The screw-type mount was
difficult to use on some plastic forks.

Thats the one I have....sitting right next to me on my desk. The Enduro
8. Hopefully it will get on my bike one day. It was highly
recommended.
