I am 70 years old and have been suffering from failing sight in one eye for some time now. The
Consultant says I have a tiny cataract right in the middle of my eye which is causing the problem
and it can be removed by having a cataract operation. He says there shouldn't be any problems at all
and the removal of the cataract will improve my sight tremendously.
My only problem is that I 'panic' when in confined places and if I cannot have control of my
movements etc ... I get into a hot sweat and have to get up and out !!! Sounds childish, I know, but
those of you who suffer the same as me will understand. Q How would I go on in a cataract operation
? Is your head totally immobilised ? How long does the operation take ? How long before the eye pad
comes off ?
Any help and advice would be appreciated. I have to see the consultant again soon but I would sooner
have these basics understood before I meet with him again.
Thanks.
John
