My Cateye DW w/Cadence computer does not want to work in my basement... Works great outside, no issues whatsoever. As soon as I put the bike on a trainer indoors, it doesn't pick up the sensor anymore, whether on rollers or a fluid trainer. Sensor is rear wheel mounted. Has anyone else had this issue? If this was a low battery issue, I would think it would also not work outside... Am I getting interference? This really sucks, because part of the reason for getting this computer was that I could use it on a trainer and be able to measure cadence.

i have several cateyes's units all work ok, but they are all wired, the wireless polar wristwatch (set on the handlebars) that i have fails to display heart rate (reading = 00 ) for no reason every now and then, and the wireless cadence sometimes fail when wearing the device in my wrist, when there is interference the numbers climb to faulty readings, i wouldn't know how to help you with your issue, maybe try resetting everything removing the batteries and all and restart from scratch, turning off the TV and other digital equipment, recheking the distance between the sensor and the magnet,

The more advanced Cateye wireless units (anything fancier than a Strada) are very sensitive to microwave interference. Televisions, florescent lighting, even traffic light sensors under the pavement, can momentarily disable these computers.
Actually, I had a helluva time getting my Strada Wireless to work until I turned off the TV.

Oldbobcat - this is the response I got from Cateye support as well, that the Strada RD400 I have is prone to all sorts of interference from magnetism to florescent lighting to radios/TV's. They recommended the RD410, which, of course was not available at the time I bought mine 3 months ago. It may still not be available, as their site says "coming Spring 2013". The only improvement on the new model is 2.4GHz transmission, which fixes all the interference issues they were obviously aware of (this is actually the only improvement, so I'm guessing they got tired of hearing people complain). So the impression I got from Cateye Support was "thanks for spending money on the old model, now buy the new one so you can use it the way you intended to use the other one".
I wrote them an email to that effect and have not heard from them. If I get a positive response, I will let you all know, but this kind of pisses me off. I live in a townhouse with neighbors directly to either side of me. I can turn everything off and it will work one day, and the next it won't. Too bad, because I like everything else about this model.
