I notice that perth's newest bike shop is opening there? No (further) hints needed on what they're going to handle with that paint job. Its just south of the corner of newcastle, on the east side of the street (next to snap?).

Actually between the old quasar and the corner.

    Funny you mention him :p

I went past on thursday last week and there was a cardboard cutout of same, on a bianchi, in a vacant shop, and I sort of wondered what that was all about.... Go past friday and its a celeste coloured bike shop. It would seem that "Elite Racing Cycles" are no longer a mobile-only service and now have a shopfront.

And so close to Quantum... Like 500m. And they service racing bikes, build
wheels and frames etc etc... Don;t have the "mobile" bit though....

    try more than 3km? http://tinyurl.com/9tjee =)

Im not sure how much overlap there will be between them, ERC look very racing-oriented whereas Quantum certainly handle that as well as more general service as well as custom frames.

Ditto - every Friday night. Run around sweating and shooting, then off for
energy replacement in Northbridge... that's back when I had energy to
    replace!

Yes! it opened officially on Friday.

Its run by Steve Harcourt who you might remember from Glen Parkers. He was their mechanic for years and now is going out on his own. He has had a shop for a couple of months now but it has been at the back of a mining exploration place on Edward st. Now he finally has some street frontage and some presence.

Ive been involved in quite a bit of the setup, etc as i have kicked in some money to help start a shop racing team. It took a while but we have the jerseys out there now and about 5-6 of us racing each week. Stevie has celeste running through his veins and did absolutely everything to get the Bianchi dealership for WA. Even if your not looking for something its worth popping in and checking out the old photos he has up on the walls. He comes from a cycling rich family. His dad is an ex-NZ road champ and he himself is a two time WA road champ and won the road race at the masters games for the 35-39 year group a couple of years ago. Most interesting of all though, is a great picture of his dad at the tour of noumea (or something similar) in the early 60's. I was checking out the photo and was sure i recognised some of the faces in the picture and low and behold, he is there with Antequil and Simpson!

He also has some frames in called pro-lites. Made by a company in Taiwan who do a few european manufacturers. If you are familiar with the Ridley Damocles you might feel a bit of dejavu.....

Jannie is now the sentinel of the shop, looking over it from above.
