I want to start using a proper chain lube instead of the stuff that I've got lying around. I was just hoping that you'd be able to tell me what you use or what you have been told is really good (road bike and track bike). Thanks.

I like Finish Line Dry Lube best of any I've tried for my road bike so far. I used to think the stuff was too expensive, but a 4 oz bottle is lasting all season, or more than 5000 miles. That's not much per mile to get low wear and friction as well as quiet running.
Of course, the quest for a perfect chain lube never ends.....I've got the new wax-based Finish Line to try out next year.

Search the Forum. There are plenty of threads discussing this topic. Likely more than you care to read.

Good old penetrating oil- it's what dad used when he built bikes in the sixties...it's what he made us use when we started. Got a bottle of liquid ice and he won't even look at it
