I've just got round to fitting a new chain to my Dawes Audax; I got a
SRAM PC950 from Deeside when I got my new wheels. They "forgot" to send
a powerlink, so I got a pair of those (orig. SRAM 9-speed links) from
Decathlon. Now it's fitted, the pigging powerlink seems too wide (over
the pins) to go through the rear mech (Shim 105) without catching. Only
a bit, but it's not good...
I tried turning the link about, so the long pin ends were facing inwards
but this is worse - they now catch the metal side of the rear mech, and
seem to catch it better too.
The powerlinks I have are the ones where you bend the chain to fit the
retaining plate on, which has two plain holes for the pins to go into,
rather than the "keyhole!" type.
Have I bought the wrong bits again???
cheers,
Tony B
