Change the small ring?

With a campy chainset the smallest chainring you can fit would be a 38T, that's only a difference of 1 tooth so proly wouldn't do much for your search of a low gear.

Depending on your age and strength the 39/29 will be pretty good. You might be able to buy one of the new campy Al compacts and slap it on your same BB config and go to a 34 but that would be costly. An old racing triple would work as well with a cheap triple BB and a FD. If you stayed away from the extremes you could use a shorter chain and don't use the extremes i.e. stay off the large chain ring except on the flats and the smaller cogs. Just a few ideas.
