Changing the cage on a Campy rear derailer?

Hello All:

I am trying to put together a road triple drive train (don't laugh I
pull my kid up the canyons around Salt Lake City and NEED a small gear
for that).

I have access to a campy double rear derailer and ergo shifters. I've
been told that the ergo shifters are easy to switch to triple but I
don't know if its possible to replace a short cage with a longer cage?
Where would I buy a long cage? Where would I get the part I need to
convert the front shifter?

Thanks in advance,

Jim

No conversion for the shiftes - they're already triple.

Long cage - check Branford Bike, or see what Peter says about it.
Depending on the gears you use, you might be able to get away without
the longer cage. (It won't be cheap - a Veloce deraileur might make
more sense.)

Will do, thanks!

Jim,

I've done the procedure before - long cage to medium. Once I placed the
spring in the correct way, it was a snap. Go the park tools website -
http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=76 for more info. I've
got a Record 2003 carbon der and basically:
1) Remove the pulley screws
2) Slowly loosen the cage bolt, a couple of turns, be careful here
because their is tension with inner spring will force the cage to
rotate quickly.
3) Rotate the cage, loosen the screw completely out
4) Grease up the spring, put the new cage in, tighten the screw a
couple of turns but do not tighten it down completely
5) You will need to rotate the cage the opposite direction, hold it
down and tighten the screw down completely.

I still have my long cage it ya need one.

Jim,

How about $25 + shipping ? It has about 1000miles but is in fairly good
condition except for a minor scratch which is on image 6. I've also
include barnet's manual which I also used.

Regards,

Ian
