The price difference is minimal and not a factor in my decision. Does anyone have a particular preference in actual use, and why? My understanding is that Record has more light alloy internal parts: will Chorus have the edge in durability? I also noticed in the exploded parts diagrams that they have different bodies, are they made of different materials? Are the levers beefier on Chorus?
The teflon (or similar) coating on some of the Record parts isn't a big deal to me, I imagine it will wear off anyway.
Has anyone measured the weights on both? (published weights are often significantly off). I'm not a weight weenie (just weight conscious), but I'm curious about the actual difference.

I say-the weights in the book talking about the two lever sets are accurate. Record has a 'lightened by drilling teeny holes' in the shift disc, a carbon spring carrier. The body is different because of the 'ultra' label, not tha materials. Teflon coating that probably does nothing makes it Record. Other wise, replace the shift disc and spring carrier-get Chorus.

Can Record's ratchet springs be replaced without replacing the carrier as well? (Would add to running costs if not). And are the springs the same as Chorus's.
Last time I looked, the parts diagram didn't give separate part numbers for these springs, unlike with the cheaper models.
