Ciclista from Newark to Massachussets

Hello,
first of all sorry for my poor english...I am an italian "cyclist" that would like to surprise some friends in Lenox, Massachussetes at the end of August. I do not have any problem to ride for several hours or to climb ( I live in the Alps..) I need some advice for which roads
to take, how to get out of the airport, where to stop and how long it will take to get to destination. Thank you all in avance for the help

It's about 167 miles (268km) from Newark, NJ to Lenox, MA. The distance likely wouldn't be an issue, but a safe-ish bike route might be an issue. Perhaps someone from the NorthEast can comment on that part. There is a bus, Peter Pan Bus, that runs from Newark to New York City to Lenox, and the cost is a little over $50 (40€).
