I'm in need of a 31.8 clamp-on cable stop or an inexpensive method to add a
cable stop to a frame. Ideas, suggestions and flames much appreciated.

QBP/Problem Solvers sells the "Backstop" that does the job. (Actually,
in the online catalog it seems to be "Backsto p".)
I'm shocked to see that they're list priced at almost $30 per when my
LBS had 'em for half that. Don't know if that falls into the
"inexpensive method" category.
The tip I got when I bought the one I'm using was that the tiny little
screw strips or breaks very easily. Read the instructions, and handle
with care.
