Clean Simoni shatters ascent record?

Dr. Coggan - if you read this post, consider it an invitation to share your opinions with us.
You can always go search google groups (Usenet) yourself. In rec.bicycles.racing you'll find a lot. As I remember it, back when whole teams were getting busted for doping, confessions were coming out left and right, and the top riders were regularly getting busted, Coggan and crew maintained that there was not a doping problem in cycling. The super human performances could all be explained by training.

Hey...at least we didn't have to go down to 22nd place like the 96 Tour.

Simoni finished third ahead of Cunego.

It was like this:

1 Ivan Basso - xtraterrestrial
2 José E. Gutierrez Cataluna - doper
3 Gilberto Simoni - doper
4 Damiano Cunego - Cecchini client
5 Paolo Savoldelli - Ferrari client
6 Sandy Casar - Frenchman so he is clean

Looks like Casar is the winner of last years race.

Imbecile, you seem incapable of understanding the concept of irony. Did you notice the question mark at the end of the sentence?

- This is an incredible advertisement for SRAM components over Campag and Shimano...

Meticulous preparation or just plain good luck? The Saunier Duval-Prodir team had a combination of both on their side at this year's Giro d'Italia, not suffering a single puncture throughout the entire 3442 kilometre route. In fact, team mechanics didn't even get out of the car once during the race.

The team itself took four stage wins thanks to its climbing trio of Gilberto Simoni, Ricardo Ricco and Leonardo Piepoli.

Haha, no kidding. Simoni has had some pretty tricked out bikes at the Giro. I can't find the picture of last year's bike, but it had a great paint job as well.

Him, Ricco and Piepoli had the Addicts with the special white paint job, but Simoni switched back to the black bike after the first week. Wonder why? Maybe he just wanted to be different? Can the UCI test for that?
