Hi, I have a few questions about the Colango Bititan. I posted them on rec.bicycles.racing and have
not seen a response, so I hope you'll be able to help out. I saw this Bititan on eBay at
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2716137146

I've always been interested in it. It seems like a classic as it was around for years. Is it a good
frame? What's with the double down tubes as well as the different shaped tubes? Does it handle as
nice as my Master Light?

Every one that I have ever seen has broken. That is a classic stay-away-from frame.

Yes I also saw an early Bititan that broke (under a 200-lb body builder who was later busted for
steroids) and heard of a few more. But the bike at
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2716137146 is the later Master Ti that has a
top-notch track record. Once Colnago figured out that he traded away some torsional stiffness for
lateral stifness in the twin down tube, he ovalized and strengthened the seat tube and the problem
was fixed.

Colnago is very much a disciple of evolutionary frame design, witnessed by his recent refusal to use
integrated headsets, and the subsequent generations of a design are always better. Being that this
was the last of the line, rest assured it's a classic and a keeper.

I'll vouch for its descending prowess. Instant cojones!

Bruce-<< Every one that I have ever seen has broken. That is a classic stay-away-from frame.

True for the 'bi titan', with the round top tube. Not so for the next gen ti, double downtube, with
the four sided shaped top tube-which I think this guy is looking at...
