Looking for info. on this disorder, diagnosis,
manifestations, and treatment.
Have a family member, a teenager, who has been given the
diagnosis and put on Trileptal for treatment. One diagnostic
tool used was a beam study. The main problems have been
impulsivity and some aggressive episodes. There may have
been some episodes of distraction coupled with arm gestures
(preceding treatment), but that may or may not be related to
this diagnosis. The picture is complicated by ADHD, very low
self esteem, and oppositional defiance, not to mention
depression. Some caregivers disagree with the initial
diagnosis, and the youth now is taking the stance of
opposing being on any medication (he's very immature for his
age, and not consistent or reliable, at times).
I'd like more info. on all of this. As well as info. on
where one might go for a reliable second opinion.
