Conversion of Trialist Carbon Rear Disk wheel to track

Hi,

I have a Trialist Carbon Disk wheel with a free wheel. I want to use
this wheel on my track bike and install a 15 tooth fixed track cog on
the wheel.

What steps do I need to take to convert this wheel to track usage? Is
there anyway to do this without specialized parts? I have read about
a track converter but it is so far elusive in my area, Chilliwack,
B.C. I can get spacers, easily.

You need a track axle kit. Specialized and HED sell compatible ones.
In addition to the solid M10x1 axle and track nuts, you get axle
"cones" that are 12mm sleeves. These are the "magic" bits I couldn't
easily find elsewhere. They should fit inside your Trialist's 12x28x8
sealed bearings.

I used proper top-quality track nuts and larger-than-supplied lock
nuts to avoid digging into my frame ends.

When I made the conversion to a 7 speed freewheel HED disc, I found
the chain line was too far inboard. I considered spacers or a track
adapter.

Spacers (I used an aluminium BB lock ring) put my cog in just about
the right place. It works okay if I'm careful. I worry a bit about
stripping the threads. Maybe it'll never happen.

The adapters I've seen almost always put the cog too far outboard.
I've thought about reversing the cog on the adapter to bring the teeth
in a few millimeters, but I haven't tried it.
