Coombe Pedals- What happened?

There was a time that I was considering buying Coombe pedals. Now it seems
that they are no longer being made. Does any one know and care to comment
about what happened?
I'm interested in knowing because they seemed like a good pedal.Was there a
design problem? Production problem? Distribution problem? Under capitalized?
Competition with the big two?
