Okay boys, hope you can help me out here.
Firstly, I had bikes on our Bell 3-bike rack for a trip the other day and one of the bikes, I'm assuming due to pressure from the one on top of it, seems to have the front derailleur out of place. The bike makes a noise when pedaled and I saw that the chain is hitting the derailleur as it moves. I had to force the chain onto a gear when my daughter knocked it out of place. I can't get the derailleur back in alignment when I push on it. This is a cheap Roadmaster bike btw. Ideas?
Secondly, how are the gears named? When you go to a gear where it's heavier pedaling (for downhill) is that considered a high or low gear?
