Crank and cassette removal tools...

Hi...

I have a Dawes Ultra Galaxy, and would like to remove the drive system
for a good, pre winter clean. The cranks are shimano 'octalink' and I think
the cassette is shimano HG. What tools do I need to remove these, and apart
from Wiggle, any recommended online retailers?

TIA

Tim

Look, mum, an anorak on a bike! Check out www.nervouscyclist.org

You will need a cassette remover (cracker) and a chain whip to remove
the cassette (presuming it's not a freewheel). To remove the Octalink
cranks you need a standard crank remover, and an additional small
'bung' that sits inside the BB and gives the crank remover something to
lever against.

Check out Mike Dyason (free postage):

4.25 cassette remover
4.50 chain whip

It looks as if he does a Shimano Bottom Bracket tool, drop him an email
to see if it's Octalink compatible.
