Crankset question :road vs cyclocross

I have a Truvativ Roleur road crankset 53/39 172.5 gigapipe. Is it possible to change the 53 ring to 48 or 46 and install it to my Bianchi cyclocross Axis? I'm comparing the Truvativ Roleur road to the Truvativ Roleur cyclocross and can't find any difference except the chainring size.

The road and cyclocross versions of the Rouleur both have a 130mm bolt circle diameter, so the chainrings are interchangeable.
