Critical Mass tribute to Stockwell Bike Park / Brixton

I was impressed with last night's effort.

Rather than go into the heart of the West End and ponce along Oxford
Street, it turned left from the National Theatre, over Blackfriars
bridge (the first time I had cycled over it since the bus lanes were
erased after Vicky's death) and then right along the Embankment. After
a couple of circuits of Parliament Square, we were invited to visit
Vauxhall Cross (the mass had a mobile PA system that riders could
speak into).

Twice around the block there was followed by a journey into terra
incognita (at least for West Londoners like me). We pitched up at the
newish bike park at Stockwell and numerous massers had fun on the
impressive humps and valleys - several earning scrapes and bashes to
themselves and bikes in the process. It was much bigger and more
impressive than the bike press reports . Go and see.
The bike police accompanying us seemed a little frustrated - the mass
was running later than usual and they were well off the usual beaten
track.Mutterings of "Come on now children, you've had enough time
playing at the park."

Eventually we continued into Brixton to the querying glances of the
people in the streets. "Is it a raid ?" someone shouted when they saw
the massed yellow police jackets. Then along Coldharbour Lane and
towards Elephant and Castle.
The Mass split as sections diverted off towards the Oval - but
recombined to go round the Elephant and Castle roundabout.
