Hey guys.

I aint posted on this forum in a few years but I am looking for a little help in getting started in road cycling. I generally mountain bike for fun (and why not living in Scotland) but I have had to give up my fitness running due to arthritus. While I love to mountain bike, its not practical for me to just get out and ride the trails for fitness, and I have decided to take the plunge and get a road bike. I am looking to spend up to £1000 on my new bike and I am a little stuck for choice. I really like the new Caad 9 Evans Cycles | Cannondale CAAD 9 Tiagra Triple 2010 Road Bike | Online Bike Shop but I cant seem to get it in the colour I want (red). While I know that choosing a bike for colour is vain, I really do not like black bikes and think that I am being stupid for thinking this way, as the spec on this bike seems great for a beginner.

I also like the Treck 1.5 Evans Cycles | Trek 1.5 Triple 2010 Road Bike | Online Bike Shop the Bianchi via nirone Tiagra http://www.evanscycles.com/products/bianchi/via-nirone-7-tiagra-2010-road-bike-ec021256 and the scott s40 Evans Cycles | Scott Sportster S40 27 2010 Road Bike | Online Bike Shop which is also in black, but more bareable.

So should I go for the caad 9, or my second choice the Bianchi.

All and any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John.

Have you ridden any of them? It's impossible to say which is better and which you should get, as all such answers would be completely subjective. It'd be a bit like suggesting to you what underwear you should buy. The bikes listed are all top-notch bikes. Which is best comes down to personal preference, foibles, and perceptions.

If color is important to you, don't apologize for it. There's no point in buying a bike if you're going to be dissatisfied with it in some way, immediately at purchase. Of course, there's always the option of getting a frame re-sprayed.

No I have not ridden any of them, I suppose I could have worded my question about them a little better, but you seem to have answered it. I was really wondering if the specs on all these bikes seem good, and just checking that there is not something that I have missed on them.

Thanks for replying.

LOL! Getting into road cycling is "crossing over to the dark side", eh?
I'd say the light has finally come on, and you're now crossing over to the right side...:D

Anyway, as mentioned above, the bikes you listed are all good makes/models and will have decent re-sale should you want to upgrade down the line...

That specialised does look sweet, but for some reason (although I know they are great bikes) I do not like specialised bikes.
