Second death of a cyclist by another irresponsible kid in Colorado in
the last two years...first was a kid that fell asleep after being up
for 30-40 hours. I think some time in the slammer 'might' be a wakeup
call instead of some sort or plea bargin that doesn't include
jailtime...

Third, actually. A cyclist from Summit County was killed in May '04 by a 17
year old who drifted onto the shoulder while changing radio stations. Time
in the slammer might help, but I think driver training in this country needs
to be improved, too.

Driver training?!? How about licensing? It's *WAY* too easy to get and
keep a driver's license in this country, at least in every state I've
lived in (a dozen or so).

Cheers,

Agree but driver training won't cure stupidity. All three of the young
drivers were doing something that belies their low level of driving
experience. Asleep, text messaging and screwing with the stereo. If
they were porrly trained is ne thing. If they were negligent, and they
all were, they should be punished, not felt sorry for.
