Cycling in Santa Barbara, California- Advice

Hi,

I'm in Santa Barbara In June on a work trip (over from England). I've got a few days spare and was going to try to get some biking done. I road ride and mountain bike. Any cyclists from that area got any advice. I may bring a bike over with me or is there the opportunity to rent half -decent road or mountain bikes??

Are there good off-road trails accessible form the town of Santa Barbara?

Are there other areas nearby where I might want to locate myself for a couple of days if I want good wilderness cross country trails?
