Cycling in the Philippines, Samar island, september 2012

Joni Abesamis Bonifacio is an avid cyclist and speleologist in Samar, one of the bigger islands of the Philippines.
Last year and with a few friends he cycled the whole island during the 1st Samar Island Loop. It took them 15 days. In september of 2012 he will do the tour again and hopes to enthuse some non Philipinos to join him. All information on the 2nd Samar Island Loop is here. The bicycle tour starts in Catbalogan and will be quite tough, but it's surely worth it. Samar is still unexploited by (mass) tourism.

It's an interesting place to holiday, I wouldn't like to live there though.
