People often say, the 50s and 60s were the 'golden age' of cycling. I'm not totally convinced about that. I like bikes with 20 gears, and tyres which don't puncture too often. However, I would prefer the quieter roads and many other aspects of cycling from that time.

I cycled in the 70's and didn't get any more flats than I get now... Other than that I agree with you. :)
