I am new to cyclocross and need some info on tire sizes. I just bought a used cyclocross bike but want to upgrade the wheels and tires. The existing wheel size is a standard 700 but the rims seem very wide. I measured them and they are 1 inch at the rim edge where it meets the tires. Do you have to buy special cyclocross wheelsets or will standard 700 road wheels work. I want to put a slick commuter tire on the bike. A 28mm, 30mm or 32. I have my eye on a set of American Classic CR420's on ebay but it seems no one ever lists rim width sizes. I need help and an education in wheel sizes - not necessarily in that order. Thanks!!
