The breakaway today is all French.
They have a gap of 15 minutes at 3 PM euro time.
Looks like Discovery is giving the jersey away to whomever.
Fun tactics on the road.
Levi, Floyd and all must be looking around at each other.
Disco wants to give the jersey away to make some other team do the chasing on the all flat lead up to Ventoux, which would invite a do or die breakaway, a la Virenque three years ago in the Tour.
Disco tried their new boys legs out yesterday to see how they went--Stign and Noval. Now they want to rest before the big day tomorrow.
We'll see.

TT time today.......who will win, who will disappoint?

This is a big test for armstrong. If he loses (big time) here his rivals will get a physological edge over armstrong. This is a big difference compared to last years mont ventoux TT......This is a 'normal' TT which he always has dominated, and were he always takes time out of his rivals.

Soo how late will he go of the ramp?

Me:

1. Landis
2. Armstrong
3. Kloden

Hmm. Armstrong will probably ride quite hard today, needs to prove to himself that he is in good ITT form for the tour. Be interesting to see how Hincapie and Landis do though. Armstrong to win though.

Brave ! Also interesting for TTT is to see how Botero, Vino and Popy go..... Agreed Dekker is very promising... needs another two tears but TT'ing is very good and is aggressive..... I saw him race earlier this year in the Criturem International.... very good.....

anyone else with a tip for today ? Winner gets a years supply of serviettes.... :)

* QUICK UPDATE *

The sun is out in Roanne but the southerly wind is pretty refreshing. It is blowing at around 30km/h with gusts reaching 50km/h. The riders should be able to use it to their benefit at places.

Levi is a good time trialist but hs never doen spectacularly in the TTs in the Tour. On the other hand I think FLoyd killed the last TT in 2004 TdF. And there is Botero. If Lance is within 20 seconds and top three I think he can say he is progressing.

The inside word is that he has progressed a lot, is climbing very well, but is unproven, still the inside word favor Lance in a huge way. We'll see.

* QUICK UPDATE* for those without web or TV..... read bottom up !

Alexandre Vinokourov (T-Mobile) has set the best time at the second check - 45'17.

16:14 LANCE ARMSTRONG HAS ONLY THE SECOND BEST TIME AT THE FIRST TIME CHECK, AHEAD OF VINOKOUROV BUT BEHIND BOTERO!

16:14 Marzio Bruseghin (Fassa Bortolo) has just set the new best time at the finish: 1'01'20. Second is Sébastien Lang at 1'01'25 and third is Didier Rous with 1'02'32.

16:12 Phonak's Santiago Botero has just ripped off a huge 16 seconds off the Vinokourov's first time-check effort. He's been on good early-season form this year has Santiago, looking nice in the Tour of Catalunya, and winning the Tour of Romandy.

1) Botero 1:00:06 2) armstrong 1:00:32

Soooo leipheimer is really going for it........he may be the only one under the hour..

1 Botero 2 Leipheimer 3 Armstrong 4 Landis.

I think this is a good result for armstrong given he only has done 2 TT's. Don't forget 2002 were Botero also won the TT in the dauphine als in the tour btw.

Botero is also not really a threat for the tour.....he's to inconsistent. Leipheimer can't go with the best over the mountains..........so I think a good day. I'm suprised vino lost so much...

NO!! LEIPHEIMER CANNOT OUST BOTERO FROM THE TOP!!! He finishes second, and Armstrong third. Santiago Botero will be today's winner and new leader of the Dauphiné Libéré!!

16:50 :
Classement des 4 premiers:
1. Santiago
Botero (Phonak): 1'00'06
2. Levi Leipheimer (Gerolsteiner) : 1'00'07
3. Lance Armstrong (Discovery Channel) : 1'00'32
4. Flyod Landis (Phonak) : 1'00'45

What happened to Heras, Kloden & Menchov? I wonder how hard they were trying.

Thrust me they were going full out......no point in holding back in TT. This was a test for every TDF contender. It's looking good;)

Anyone read what Ladis said about riders who have stomach bug in Cycle Sport magazine ? ........FOS

Vino good ride as well.... he has never been that close to Armstrong before.... although Armstrong was a bit slow but looks in good form.... Heres overcooked it again and needs to gain about 27 minutes in the mountains.....
